Reduction of Selling Fees by Amazon up to 12% to Support Seller's
On September 9, Amazon reduced the selling fees in its Indian marketplace in various product categories in response to Union minister Piyush Goyal’s criticisms. The decrease in fees, which ranges between 3% and 12% will greatly benefit sellers with cheaper commodities priced below Rs.500. For example, previously a seller of printed t-shirts was paying 13.5% referral fee but now he is going to pay 2%; thus saving him Rs.34 per unit.
The major change will be felt by sellers’ fees across 59 sub-categories with different price bands. According to Amazon, this is aimed at making their partnership with the various sizes of sellers deeper so that they may expand their product list and increase their sales especially during festive season as well as increasing competitiveness among themselves on the market; it shows more than anything else that it is long-term as opposed to being just a temporary response and lets one create a perfect environment for all types of vendors throughout history whose contribution towards building a better world we still remember today.
