💬India’s Response
In response to the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of 26 innocent civilians. This is among the first key decisions by the Modi government to penalise Pakistan for its involvement in the terror attack.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has outlined five significant decisions from the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. These decisions aim to address the situation and hold those responsible accountable.
Diplomatic and Security Measures
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misry announced that Pakistani Defence/Military, Naval, and Air Advisors in New Delhi have been declared persona non grata and must leave India within a week. India will also withdraw its advisors from Islamabad. The overall strength of both High Commissions will be reduced.

Withdrawal of Indian Military Advisors from Islamabad: India is recalling its Defence, Navy, and Air advisors from its High Commission in Islamabad, effectively nullifying these diplomatic positions.
Reduction of Diplomatic Staff: The strength of both Indian and Pakistani High Commissions will be reduced to 30 staff members each by May 2025.
Suspension of SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme for Pakistanis: Pakistani nationals are no longer permitted to travel to India under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme. Existing visas have been cancelled, and those in India under this scheme were given 48 hours to leave.
Heightened Security and Surveillance: Indian security forces have been placed on high alert, with increased surveillance to track and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
Commitment to Justice: The government reiterated its resolve to identify, track, and punish every terrorist and their backers involved in the attack.
