Hyderabad and other regions of Telangana experienced heavy rainfall, providing a respite from intense heat but simultaneously disrupting daily life. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts continued heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in Hyderabad and neighbouring districts. Videos and images circulating from Hyderabad depict vehicles submerged in water, with residents wading through knee-deep floodwaters as incessant showers severely reduce visibility.
Human Toll and Tragedy
Tragically, two farmers in Nagarkurnool, Telangana, lost their lives after being struck by lightning while working in their fields during a thunderstorm. Additionally, rainwater reportedly entered some residences in the Yakutpura constituency, compounding the woes of residents.
Infrastructure Damage
The heavy rains have also caused damage to infrastructure, with reports indicating that the north-east minaret of the historic Charminar sustained damage.
Impact on Daily Life
Traffic has been severely affected, with heavy waterlogging reported at Malakpet RUB, causing congestion on roads from Nalgonda X Roads to Azampura and vice versa. Authorities are working to clear the waterlogging, advising commuters to seek alternate routes.
Aftermath and Response
The bodies of the two farmers who died during the thunderstorm have been recovered and handed over to their families. The deceased have been identified as Gajula Eramma, 60, and Saidamma, 45.

Supreme Court declined to hear a PIL seeking to ban social media access for children under 13. The bench, led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, stated that it is a policy matter for the government to decide.
