NHRC issues notice to Andhra Pradesh government over hidden cameras in girls college
After the discovery of hidden cameras in washrooms at an Andhra Pradesh girls’ college cops have taken cognizance of this incident by NHRC. The NHRC has issued a notice to the concerned state government asking for status report on the issue in not more than four weeks. It strongly voiced its concerns about how privacy and dignity have been violated against students.
The issue arose when one student identified something strange while using the bathroom only to find out that there was a hidden camera. Consequently protests erupted among other students and parents who were advocating for at least a punishment on those responsible for installing such devices. The NHRC emphasised on thorough investigation into these matters along with necessary precautions taken so that similar occurrences do not happen again. Similarly, they demanded that guidelines be put forward for ensuring student safety and security in schools especially. This case arises from a societal need regarding protecting girls’ rights and welfare issues.
An uproar about religious feeling has arisen over Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Emergency’ film
Kangana Ranaut’s forthcoming movie titled “Emergency,” which illustrates the contentious period of India’s Emergency from 1975 to 1977, is provoking discontent among government sources in relation to its portrayal of religious sentiments. There are fears that this could lead to some historical events being misrepresented and may, therefore, offend particular communities.
The film stars Ranaut as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi with an intention of showing that politically was the turmoil during that time. However; there are allegations from insiders that it might not respect the sensitivities surrounding those occurrences adequately thereby casting doubts on how people might react.
Reportedly the government is keeping a tab on things asking filmmakers to pay attention to their works and how they affect peace in societies.
