The new bill aims to simplify the six-decade-old Income Tax Act, 1961, reducing it from 512,535 words to 259,676 words. The Lok Sabha also passed the National Sports Governance Bill, 2025, and National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill, 2025, marking significant reforms in India's sports sector.
Opposition Protests Over Bihar Voter List Revision
INDIA bloc MPs, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, were detained during their protest march from Parliament to the Election Commission headquarters. The opposition is protesting against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, where 6.5 million names were removed from the draft voter list.
