CCI Discovers Amazon, Flipkart in Anti-Competitive Conduct
As per the Competition Commission of India (CCI), Amazon and Flipkart engaged in anti-competitive practices that hurt smaller retailers. This investigation revealed these companies’ preference for certain sellers on their platforms, which distorted competition and favoured larger companies over smaller ones. Such findings are indicative of monopolistic practices that would disadvantage small businesses. Therefore, CCI has initiated further proceedings against both companies to protect consumer interest by ensuring fair competition in the e-commerce sector and creating a level playing field for all players in the market.

Samsung Employees Demanding Better Pay and Recognition of Their Union
At the Samsung Electronics Sriperumbudur factory, located in Tamil Nadu, several hundred workers have been engaging in a strike for two days in a row, calling for better wages, improved working hours, as well as an acknowledgment of their union. Nandan Nilekani on AI: Change and Opportunities
In an interview recently, Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani has spoken about concerns with artificial intelligence (AI) and said that it is reduced discretionary spending, rather than AI, that has legitimately impacted the decline in jobs within the IT sector. He accepted to fears on job automation, but maintained that new technologies usually come along with job losses and create more job opportunities. According to Nilekani, India should take advantage of AI to force improvements in public services, education, health care and agriculture. He maintained that when combined with digital public infrastructure, there is a transformative potential for AI calling for its ethical use to maximize societal level benefits and eventually the overall quality of life.
